Wyatt’s Story

tags small file

July 7th, 2013 still rings very clearly over and over in my mind and as I watch Wyatt’s Family and Friends try to make sense of it all.  Strength is renewed within to do everything we can so no family ever has to lose a child to drowning again.

Lives were changed in 5 seconds, never to return the same again.

July 7th 2013 Heaven gained a new Angel and a ministry to families was born.  Seeds were planted that day and God began to work miracle after miracle in our lives.   We began working on trying to get life jackets to give away and in the process came in contact with a group at PK that were touched by the loss of Wyatt as well. We helped pass out 160 life jackets the weekend of September 2, 2013 at Sandy Beach at Possum Kingdom Lake.  That was probably one of the hardest things we have ever done going back down to Sandy Beach, however again God just showed up.  Putting life jackets on the children was the beginning of healing.  We met people that day that will forever change our lives.  It never ceases to amaze me that when you feel you are all alone, and no one understands, someone has come up to me and shared their story of losing a child or family member to drowning.  Those stories  we will cherish.

March 1st, 2014 we launched

“My son’s name is Aaron Terasas, a wonderful Daddy and protective of his children.  In 5 seconds, life changed.

A mom’s worst nightmare is, to get “The Call there has been an accident”, and in the background hearing your son scream “my son, my son”.   I knew at that moment something had happened to our Wyatt.  I will never forget the conversation I had with my son on July 7, 2013.  We were standing in the middle of the Emergency Room and my son just cried, “Mom, I never want Any Child to have to go through this again”, “We have to do something”! “Mom in 5 seconds he was gone”.   We stood there for what seemed an eternity looking at the picture that many have seen by now of Wyatt and Dixie in their life jackets.  I promised him at that moment I would help him.

From the moment we lost Wyatt we knew that we never wanted this to happen to another family so our mission has been to educate families on how precious children are and the responsibility we have as parents to hold our children tight, love and protect them,  in 5 seconds life can change.

Our families and friends pulled together immediately and just trusted and prayed that God would help us get “Wyatt’s Story” out.  We  started buying lifejackets one at a time, giving them away, gave swim scholarships and swim lessons for the rest of our grandchildren.

Aj (Wyatt’s Daddy) and Mckenzie (Wyatt’s Mom), want to personally thank the BRA, Palo Pinto Sheriff Officers, Parks and Wildlife Game Warders, EMS, First Responders, Divers, Police Department, bystanders, Dr’s and Nurses that helped that day. We also want to thank all the Volunteers who have helped us with their time and finances to get life jackets on families.

We have every intention of getting awareness  past the gates of Young County and make a difference in Families lives across the country, that’s why Remembering Wyatt Dale is being formed to impact families through water safety awareness “Saving Lives One Jacket at a Time”
